This is the Kali Yuga

Waking Times

The Sanskrit word Kali, which denotes the fourth cycle of time, the Kali Yuga, has no connection with the goddess Kali [kAlI]. These two words are ‘spelled’ meaning written quite differently in the Devanagari and therefore should not be confused. The Kali Yuga refers to the apocalyptic demon Kali implying discord, strife, quarrel, and contention.

The Kali is the only yuga most of us are familiar with because we have been living all our lives within these dense frequencies. Our minds, the way we think, and thus our perception of ‘reality’ has literally been cooked by the vibratory frequencies of time within the Kali Yuga. We humans have been ‘cooked by time’ to the point that only the fives senses remain available to us to understand the world around us. The five senses are easily confused.

The five senses can indeed be programmed and tricked by tyrannical wizards who want to control our lives. Today’s monopoly media is very aware of how to entrain and manipulate the five senses. In our modern world most of the information received around the planet suits the agendas of the multinational corporations, who own the monopoly media.

The five senses are vulnerable to deceit and manipulation by any and all. In other cycles of time, information gathered solely by the five senses would have been highly suspect. ‘SEERS’ – those who see – were trusted as the source of wisdom concerning mankind’s future and our interconnection with the Cosmos.

It is only the ‘SEER’ within you, the one who has quieted the mind and achieved a connection to the God-within, who can offer insight into the true nature of reality. Only an inner-knowingness can lead us out of our current predicament – out of our miasma of amnesia, the soup we are still ‘cooking’ in. Only by transcending the illusory powers of the five senses, and an understanding of the mechanics of Prakriti’s Matrix and GUNA-MAYA, will we human beings return to the Real.

The Symptoms

There are numerous descriptions of the symptoms of the Kali Yuga in the ancient Sanskrit Puranic texts. Bear in mind that writing is itself a symptom of the Kali Yuga. These texts were composed and transmitted orally in the previous cycles of time and handed down through memory, based on verbatim repetition, from one generation to the next. It was only in 500 BC that the grammarian Panini codified the Sanskrit language and these memorized texts were put into the form of writing. Sanskrit’s arduous precision was intentionally designed to protect the ancient knowledge from the confusion ensuing in the Kali Yuga.

The symptom that completely convinced me that the Cycles of Time were true was this: “Ready cooked food will be on sale.” [LINGA Purana Ch. 40] The ancients foresaw ‘fast food’! They knew that pre-prepared food loses its nutritional value.

By the time a genetically-altered chemically-sprayed vegetable has been shipped from California, packaged and processed with more chemicals as additives and preservatives in New Jersey, shipped on an air-polluting diesel truck to Kansas or Mississippi, where it is inundated with microwaves in an oven and placed in an endocrine disrupting chemical styrofoam package to await your arrival – there is very little ‘goodness’ left.

The Darkside Rules

The Kali Yuga is the Age of Darkness. The Light is primarily unmanifest, meaning not completely gone, just veiled and hidden in the Kali – and the Darkside rules. You can lighten the world around you by realizing and Remembering the God-within you, and by letting that frequency flow out around you. Even if people don’t accept what you say, they will be uplifted by your silent consciousness.

However don’t expect them to love you or even like you. Their Kali Yuga egos are firmly enthroned and will feel unconsciously threatened by your presence. The small identity-self ego has no wish to give up its power and if the person is unwittingly hosting denizens of the Phantasmal Hierarchies – perhaps in the form of an addiction to drugs, alcohol, or tyrannical power – then these parasitical entities will attack you and do just about anything to get you away from their ‘food’ supply!

The Kali seems to actually reward the Darkside, those ruthless ratzoids that are weak and greedy, liars without any integrity, morals, or principles often succeed. While the maverick thinkers, who possess a quiet sense of honor, who feel compassion for others, and respect primordial truth, are quickly pushed aside and berated, often brutally and publicly, by the elite.

In today’s culture almost everything that is being held up to us as great, desirable, and worthy is a short-term fix and sadly – rubbish. All of the power and money in the world will not give you the Rembrance of Oneness. The fastest red-hot racecar available will not bring you to the destination of enlightenment and liberation – JIVAN MUKTI. The pleasures enjoyed with the most gorgeous super model, male or female, will soon become tiresome and a burden. As Krishna says, both pleasure and pain reside in the objects of the senses.

“… the pleasures that spring from sense impressions are sources of unhappiness, because they have beginnings and ends.” –Bhagavad Gita 27[5]23

Religious Fanatics

Another strange phenomenon of the Kali Yuga is the externalization of faith to such an extreme that people became obsessed and crazed with their individual belief systems. For 1000’s of years now human beings have, in the name of their various interpretations of God, inflicted endless stupid destructive wars on each other – mass murder, torture, theft, and slavery all in the name of God!

When you realize that God is within each and every man woman & child, the idea of forcing any religion upon another is the height of absurdity!

Corrupt priests have been the willing accomplices to such heinous conflicts. They often became the imaginative torturers of non-believers and even sold tickets-to-heaven in the form of ‘indulgences’ to the rich, to line their own pockets, and build enormous, however lovely, cathedrals and temples while many of the common people remained perpetually close to starvation.

People prefer false ideas.

The Symptoms of the Kali Yuga from the Sanskrit texts the Vishnu Purana and the Linga Purana are already posted on Metaphysical Musing. I have always particularly appreciated the accuracy of these four Kali Yuga symptoms:

*Thieves will become kings, and kings will be the thieves.

*Rulers will confiscate property and use it badly. They will cease to protect the people.

*People will prefer to choose false ideas.

*Base (low minded) men who have gained a certain amount of learning (without having the virtues necessary for its use) will be esteemed as sages.

Remember that these are ‘predictions’ that were seen and composed before the Kali began. The Vedic and Puranic texts were transmitted orally and held in memory from other cycles of time, and only written down after writing came into use.

Here are just some of the symptoms of the Kali Yuga from the BHAGAVATA PURANA, Skandha XII:

Chapter Two

1. Thereafter, day after day, under the force of the inexorably powerful Time, righteousness, truth, purity, (both physical and mental), forbearance, mercy, duration of life, physical power, and sharpness of memory shall go deteriorating.

2. Wealth alone will be the deciding factor of nobility of birth, righteous behaviour or merits. And only brute force will be the only standard in the arrangement or decision of what is righteous or just.

3. …cheating is the order of the day in business relations; satisfaction of the sexual pleasure is the only consideration of masculine or feminine excellence and worthiness

4. Justice has become weak, [and is based on] bribes.

5. Want of affluence is the cause of one’s impiety or bad name, while hypocrisy is the index of goodness.

6. The highest purpose of life is to fill one’s belly and arrogant audacity is regarded as veracity.

7. It is for self-advertisement of one’s fame of piety that righteous deeds are to be performed… the whole world will be populated by wicked people.

13. When (in the Kali) religion will be predominantly heretical, and kings as good as robbers and men will be enhancing their livelihood by theft, (economic offenses), mendacity, wanton violence to life and such other pursuits.

Chapter Three

25. In that (Kali) age, people will be greedy, take to wicked behaviour, will be merciless, indulge in hostilities without any cause, unfortunate, extremely covetous for wealth and women (worldly desires) and higher social status…

30. When deceit falsehood, lethargy, sleepiness, violence, despondency, grief, delusion, fear, poverty stricken-ness prevail, that is the Kali Age which is characterized by TAMAS [the GUNA of ignorance, delusion, and indolence].

31. As a result of the Kali’s influence, mortal beings become dull witted, unlucky, voracious, destitute of wealth yet voluptuous, and women wanton and unchaste.

37. In the Kali Age, men will abandon their parents, brothers, friends and relatives and establish their friendliness on sexual basis. [They] will be miserable.

Even trees will become stunted on account of their ruthless exploitation by unrighteous men.

And two from the Mahabharata:

[The world will be] Overrun by many imposters… discussing the virtues of great meals.

-The Mahabharata, The Book of the Forest 3(37)186.43

The countryside will bristle with towers.

The Mahabharata, The Book of the Forest 3(37)186.37

This could either refer to tall buildings in industrial parks and their adjacent apartment complexes – or perhaps more on the ‘bristling’ side, to the towers that transmit radio and microwaves, or even those monster electric tower grids.

Confusion as Control

The Age of Confusion is mobbed by – yes, confusion! Practically everything you have ever read is clouded over by the miasma of Kali Yuga fog. As the saying goes: History is written by the conquerors – while the loser’s side of the story is routinely forgotten.

When you think about it, throughout most of written history all the great works of Art sadly are the symbols of propaganda bought and paid for by ruling tyrants and religions seeking to dominate the world’s populations. Just ask Leonardo da Vinci who worked for the likes of Cesara Borgia, or Michelangelo who labored under the iron hand of a Vatican priest. Today’s artists are answerable to the power of big money from the multinational corporations that own our world.

Even the wonderful descriptions of enlightenment that give us all hope were not experienced in the density of time we currently are living in. With no disrespect intended, it occurs to one that Lao Tzu, Jesus, and Buddha did not have to fight off chemtrails, microwaves, endocrine disrupting chemicals, or childhood television programming! These days, in the Twilight of the Kali Yuga, it’s the Razor’s Edge – every step of the way Home.

Our Refuge

Knowledge of our essential Oneness is hard to come by in the Kali Yuga. Beneath the curtain of multiplicity – there is only ONE! This means that behind the apparent diversity of seemingly billions of individuals living on planet Earth, they are all only One. All are ISNESS.

For those of you who have remembered past lives, you may have noticed a striking perplexing similarity in the basic character of each life. There may be certain repeating flaws and compulsions, traits or qualities that you begin notice have shown up over and over in lifetime after lifetime. You may be a high priest in Atlantis, or a dancing slave girl in 8th century Kashmir – but there is a pattern that continues throughout all your lives. This is because the genes in your current physical body are the latest ‘product’ of a long line of many bodies, lineages. You have access to the memories contained within the DNA of the body you currently inhabit.

It is as if the Creator generates certain rays or waveforms, which contain qualities of expression that remain in the genes throughout the cycles of time. As time descends down through the yugas further and further into density, ever more variations of expression are created, such as habits, impulses, likes & dislikes, etc. etc.

Time does not exist outside the temporal illusory holographic matrix. Thus the Four Cycles of Time are simultaneous as are all your so-called ‘past’ lives.

But underneath all this temporal multiplicity is the Oneness that we all are: meaning you and me, factory workers in China and the farmers of rural India, the world leaders and corporate tyrants, the Aborigines in Australia and the Pigmy tribes in Africa!

We are all ONENESS beneath the temporal illusory Curtain of Multiplicity. This knowledge of Oneness has been hidden from us in the Kali Yuga, but once you truly Realize the God-within, you will Become that which you always have been.

The floodgates of Knowledge and Love will open – and you will never be the same. You will never be able look at another human being without compassion and you will never again judge them – for you will KNOW that YOU ARE THEM! As you judge them, so you judge and condemn yourself. And it turns out that as harrowing, dreadful and boring as the Kali Yuga is – in fact it is the fast lane to God Realization. The intensity of the Kali pressures you to WAKE UP!

The Easiest Cycle to Reach Liberation

Acceptance of the theory of the Cycles of Time might lead you to a sort of complacent resignation. After all, if we are ineluctably snared in the frequencies of confusion – then why bother?

Because what is really exciting about the Kali Yuga is the understanding that in fact it is the easiest cycle to Remember who you are.

The end of the Kali Yuga is a particularly favorable period to pursue true knowledge. Some will attain wisdom in a short time, for the merits acquired in one year during the Treta Yuga can be obtained in one day in the age of Kali.  [Shiva Purana, A. Danielou]

[Linga Purana, Section1, Chapter 40]

45. Hence during the Kali longevity, strength, and features become less and less. Men attain perfection within a short time.

46-47. What is gained by the practice of dharma for a year in the Treta Yuga is attained by the practice of it for a month in the Dvapara Yuga. In Kali an intelligent devotee attains the same in a day by practicing Dharma strenuously.

It’s a Cosmic Bargain Sale of sorts! Therefore, take up the challenge to Remember who you are! Do not give in! So, the Darkside is fulfilling its own kind of dharma, doing its job of spreading the hand of tyranny over the planet and poisoning everything in its wake. What will you do? In these moments of challenge, of sorrow and of awakening consciousness, how will you behave? Can you find courage within yourself and compassion for others? Can you master the divine detachment that comes from knowing that what is unfolding is the grand Cosmic Design. Can you remember that every one and everything is God, Isness – and this Oneness is you.

You are this world, and you are the Love that breathes this temporal illusory holographic matrix out into multiplicity and inhales it back into quiescence – and back out again, eon after eon after eon. World without end! This universe is here for us all to play in. Surely, when you look at your life or perhaps many lives, in spite of all the pain, you do recognize the grand beauty of Creation.

So the question is what will you do now in this intensified exciting moment? And are you ready to move on into one of the 1000s of other universes – some without polarities or even time – all waiting, inviting you to come to yet another magnificent adventure in consciousness.

    Hi Susan,

Your article is fabulous on kali yuga.

In Hindu ancient scripts there are 18 purans, in all purans one thing is similar that after Kali yuga again sathyuga will come,Kali (Vishnu Avatar) will clear all devils spirits out and satyuga will begin.

Our job is to find out purpose of Life as everything has a logic and purpose. Now a days its difficult to find out Guru who can take us on right path for Moksha.

    Happy and informative above article.

    With Love,
    Vishal Jitendra Dixit

Excellent article Susan and I believe truthful.

I’m an American Bhakta and also practice Karma yoga. I think these are the best yoga’s for the times.

I did study Shaiva Siddhanta for a short time and know what Kashmir Saivism is and I’ve watched videos by Swami Lakshmanjoo and been to his organizations website and looked through it. I’ve also struggled through Alain Danielou’s ‘While the Gods Play, Shaiva Oracles and Predictions on the Cycle of History and the Destiny of Mankind’. I know who Rene Guenon is but have not read any of his works. Therefore, I find your references and intellectual knowledge to be outstanding.

My three primary sources of eastern knowledge have come from practicing Bhakti and Karma yoga’s and from Swami Vivekananda, Swami Sivananda and Sri Ramana Maharshi. As your aware, all three were considered Saints in India. Before getting into yoga and eastern practices, I was a member of the Theosophical Society, a few western magic schools and considered an expert on Hermetic Qabalah. As a Freemason, I have given many interesting papers in lodge. I also spent many years studying the work of Rudolf Steiner and I believe his “Eighth Sphere” concept also comes in line with Kali Yuga and the times we live in.

I have said what I have because intellectual knowledge to me has become meaningless, it’s truth I seek and I felt your article was full of truth. We can all look around today and see; global warming, genetically modified foods, mass pollution, massive amounts of oil and radiation has been dumped into the ocean (more than we know), the entire city of Tokyo (one of the largest in the world) was poisoned with radiation, (we were all told otherwise but witnessed it) mass un-natural disasters taking place worldwide and in the U.S., entire animal, insect and plant species being wiped out, major forests (that clean and provide air and regulate our weather) wiped out, billions of people in India and China going to a western diet (where does all the meat come from and how much pollution will it cause and is causing), celebrity worship, fame and money are gods, less than 5% of the earths population controlling 100% of the wealth, the Ganges river in India a few years from drying up and it’s pollution causing a pandemic, nuclear power and weapons in the hands of mad-men, I could go on and on but you get the picture. Even if we stopped now and tried to fix everything (this will not happen) it’s to late, the cycle of prana going back to the akasha is in full swing. How can anyone not see what is happening around them and not feel that human extinction is near? This planet may fix itself but it will have to rid itself of the virus known as mankind if it is to do so.

Like you stated in this article. The only thing we can fix is ourselves by finding the Oneness of ourselves with everything and yes, we contain God within us. The only thing any of us can do is to to fill ourselves with unselfish, unconditional love and let it spread. As Sri Ramana Maharshi showed; it can be done in silence and should be done in silence because that is when people listen. I have always found actions speak much louder than words. Thanks for such a wonderful article. Namaste!

  • Only God knows the end of kali yuga. 🙂

  • CrissCross

Excellent article! 90% of the cases mentioned above are coming true, worldwide (only if one’s eyes are opened wide enough to see & judge)!!!

    V. Susan Ferguson is correct in stressing the Kali demon is NOT the Goddess Kali who is the chaste devotee wife of Lord Shiva.

Far too often when articles appear referencing Kali yuga they are accompanied by a depiction of the Goddess Kali. Wrong! Wrong! Wrong!

Here is the Kali demon, the demon whom Kali Yuga is named after.
He appears in force soon after the departure of Sri Krishna to His spiritual abode.

    Kali demon

    King Pariksit rebuking Kali demon

When Parīkṣit came upon them, they appeared like an abandoned cow and bull being beaten with a club by a wicked man dressed like a king.

The bull, white as lotus-root, was urinating out of fear, trembling and terrified as his one remaining leg was beaten by the rogue.

The cow, whose milk is morality, became helpless and afraid as the rogue smashed her legs. Bereft of her calves, tears streamed down her face. She looked emaciated and in dire need of grass.

The king picked up his bow and spoke to the culprit in a voice that resounded from his completely golden chariot like deep thunder from the sky:

Who are you?! What are you doing in my kingdom?! What kind of ‘strong man’ attacks the weak??? Your kingly clothes are nothing but a costume, for such deeds are not those of a noble person!

Do you think you can get away with this because Krishna and Arjuna[1] are no longer among us? That will not happen! You are guilty of attacking the innocent when you think no one is looking. You deserve to die!

    Pariksit and Kali

  • aspendougy

There is a shorter equinotical cycle of 24,000 years, and in that cycle, we are not in Kali Yuga, which ended in approx. A.D. 500, but in an ascending Dwapara Yuga. Please read the introduction to THE HOLY SCIENCE by Swami Sri Yukteswar Giri. There is a longer cycle, a more universal one, and in that long cycle, we are still in Kali Yuga, but the shorter equinotical cycle has much more influence.

  • Ocko

You forgot to mention the purity of race.

The holy cow of the PTB, anti-racism, is a hallmark of this Yuga, the destruction of caste.

  • Bhibatsu

And in the kali yuga, there are countless karma jada smrtas, god pimps, adulterating the sastras, injecting and infecting and concocting their own interpretation, adding the 0.01% arsenic to the milk of truth, that ultimately misleads and tempts the sincere seeker away from the truth. These dogs, who profane the sastras, are so very wont to pollute the truth, yes, even by misquoating the Vedas, Gita.

In this dark age of Kali, quarrel and hypocracy, there are so many -isms that spring up, with no purpose other than to confound and slay the spotless bull of Dharma.

Here is a brave new concept that many … transcendental hippies and barefoot philosophers, are unfamiliar with, wrap your brain around this, if ye can: just as there are so many charlatans in churchianity,
so too there are equally just as many seducers in vedantianity.

What. You think the daityas and yavanas and nagas and asuras and piscasis only speak English? That somehow the demons and defilers just, forgot, to inject their venom into the mothertongue of all European languages, Sanskrit, and somehow, forgot, to corrupt the Vedic sastras?

“From the Bhagavatam we understand that Lord Buddha is the incarnation of Krsna who appeared when materialism was rampant and materialists were using the pretext of the authority of the Vedas. Although there are certain restrictive rules and regulations regarding animal sacrifice for particular purposes in the Vedas, people of demonic tendency still took to animal sacrifice without reference to the Vedic principles. Lord Buddha appeared to stop this nonsense and to establish the Vedic principles of nonviolence. Therefore each and every avatara, or incarnation of the Lord, has a particular mission, and they are all described in the revealed scriptures. No one should be accepted as an avatara unless he is referred to by scriptures.”

    BG 4:7
Whenever and wherever there is a decline in religious practice, O descendant of Bharata, and a predominant rise of irreligion–at that time I descend Myself.

Decline in religious practice, happens everywhere in in every yuga but the Satya yuga.

    BG 4:8
In order to deliver the pious and to annihilate the miscreants, as well as to reestablish the principles of religion, I advent Myself millennium after millennium.

To re-establish the broken chain of disciplic success.

Truth may be incorruptible, but those who profess to teach and dissert it, rarely are, and even when well intentioned and sincere, remain, limited, prone to error, bias, lack of realization and a host of faults.

This “oneness” you repeatedly hammer and propound, is not the truth, but only part of the truth. To say, we are all one, sounds very nice, and the mayavadhis, the voidists, the incognito atheists who are envious of God, love to spew this line, but when put to the test “We are one? Very well: give me your watch, I am you, after all, and let me borrow your wife, we are one after all are we not?”, immediately blanch.

This “I am God”-ism, is merely the fantasy of the limited, conditioned jivatma, under the delusion of ahankara, false ego, false pride, under the strong influence of Maya, illusion, lust, foolishly fantasizes himself to be – God.

    You are not God.
    You are dog.

Were you Bhagavan, you could demonstrate so easily, at any time, at any place. But what siddhis do you have, apart from haphazardly rehashing the scriptures incompletely.

The complete, is not “I am God, we are one, I breathe in and out creation”, no, you are not Vishnu, Mahavishnu, Ksirodakshayi Vishnu, Garbodakshayi Vishnu. No. You are jiva, das, illusioned fool, forgetful unfaithful servant of God.

Acintya beta beta tattva, simultaneous inconceivable oneness and yet separateness.

    That is the complete truth.
    You are not, the whole.

    Bhagavad Gita
    Chapter 4, Verse 35.
And when you have thus learned the truth, you will know that all living beings are but part of Me–and that they are in Me, and are Mine.

You are a tiny, insignificant and yet irreplaceable, part, of the whole.
You are a spec of God, with the divine spark of God within you, known as Paramatma, in that regard if it pleases your ahankara, you may satisfy yourself with the fantastic realization, that you are tiny god, one among countless zillions upon zillions. The father is in the son, but the son is not the father. The son is the son. You are limited spark of Divine Holy Absolute God, but you are not the whole. God is in you, and you are in God, simultaneous, inconceivable oneness and yet separateness, but you are you and not God, you are you and not me. No. You are just you. God loves you to the degree that you love Him, yes, masculine, Him. You mention Pakriti so you ought to know.

To propound this, I am God, I am everything, I am unlimited and omnipotent, this want, is an admission of impotence. Let us put it to the test: let us cut your head off, and see if we are one.

Perhaps when you realize this, that you are a part, and not the whole, of Bhagavan, you will graduate the matrix.

Until then, you are not Vishnu-tattva, you are not unlimited, you are not nitya-siddha, you are not avatara, no, you are just jiva, dog who wants to be God.

    • I see that the eternal wisdom in the Sanskrit texts has made you sattvic, loving, kind, friendly, and allowing of the Divine Lila.

      Bhaktya mam abhijanati
      Yavan yashcasmi tattvatah
      Tato mam tattvato jñatva
      Vishate tadanantaram

      ishvarah sarvabhutanam
      hriddeshe Arjuna tishthati
      bhramayam sarvabhutani
      yantrarudhani mayaya

      tatraivam sati kartaram
      atmanan kevalam tu yah
      pashyaty akritabuddhitvan
      na sa pashyati durmatih

Bhibatsu, you have expressed what I would have liked to express, and quite succinctly. So many still allow admission of their speculation into the fray as some kind of supreme truth. Supreme truth can only be that which has come down from the flawless, perfect, and unequalled Tattva. Darkness is sustained by the dogs that “make it up as they go along”, in lieu of having actual divine or supreme knowledge that is true only of Bhagavan. You addressed it all nicely. It would be helpful for many to understand the place of the parampara in all of this, the unbroken line of disciplic succession that stretches back to Lord Krishna himself. Alas, so much to consider…so little time. — Den M.

  • Shravaka

    Beloved Susan,

Your sharing once again resonates at the deepest levels… You are to be Honored and Recognized for contributing to the clarity of us souls who have had the Great Fortune of finding your presence in our lives. Thank you, thank you, thank you…..

In Lak’ ech, (which is a Mayan greeting that means: “I am another you”… And demonstrative of the fact that another culture on the other side of the world from India also understood the fundamental nature of Oneness!)

    Shravaka. <3

    • Shravaka!
      Great name.
What a beautiful reply you have given to me.
      I am indeed honored.

It is wonderful to know that, as you have said:

“In Lak’ ech, (which is a Mayan greeting that means: ‘I am another you…’ And demonstrative of the fact that another culture on the other side of the world from India also understood the fundamental nature of Oneness!)”

Yes, what may be called primordial traditional metaphysics is the Real for the entire universe. I found this within the Sanskrit texts, even more as I began the lifelong process of teaching myself Sanskrit itself. But truth is everywhere, pervading the All, ubiquitous!

TAT TVAM ASI = Thou art That

      And thank you.

  • * Evidence that we are in The Twilight of the Kali Yuga

I fully understand and realize that the authorities on the ancient Sanskrit texts in India do not agree with what I am going to say here. The traditional and currently accepted timeline for the end of the Kali Yuga in India is that we have another 426,900 more years of the Kali Yuga.

However in 1991, I read Alain Danielou’s eye-opening enlightening ‘While the Gods Play, Shaiva Oracles and Predictions on the Cycle of History and the Destiny of Mankind’ (1985/Inner Traditions). Over the years I reread this book many times. It has taken me multiple readings, along with many related texts and my own experiences, to absorb what he said. To find out something about his life, I also read all of Danielou’s books that have been translated from the French into English.

Danielou said that he was taken into the trust of a group of Shaivites who were rather secretive. Unlike so many other ambitious gurus, they did not head for the west to promote their sacred teachings.

Danielou was French and had taught himself Sanskrit; but for whatever reason, these Shaivites trusted him and initiated him into their metaphysical system that included the theory of the Cycles of Time. ‘While the Gods Play’ contains a clear explanation of that school of Shaivite knowledge.

Danielou said that these Shaivites told him the ‘true’ dates. He gives 1939 as the date of the beginning this Twilight of the Kali Yuga. He connects this to the ‘discovery of nuclear fission’ – perhaps because it will be various forms of nuclear fission, including nuclear power facilities, which will be instrumental in the end. Like Fukushima?

Monsieur Danielou tells us, “The final catastrophe will take place during this twilight. The last traces of this present humankind will have disappeared in 2442.”

It took me years to assimilate the theory of the Cycles of Time. I was born in the wild west and brought up on faith in ‘American know-how’ and ‘progress’!

It was really not until I read Rene Guenon’s devastatingly brilliant ‘Reign of Quantity, and The Signs of the Times’ that I was completely convinced. Guenon’s French razor-slicing arguments forever altered my consciousness. Do read this book. It will blow the cobwebs right out of your brain.

Later I began to study the works of Swami Lakshmanjoo. I know, you never heard of him – and that is a good thing! With all the swarmy swamis around, who needs another! And while I realize that to many I will sound like just one more delusional brainwashed disciple, Lakshmanjoo was the real jewel. He had his own money and never took money from any of his disciples. In fact he gave money to many who needed it over the years. He stayed in Kashmir teaching only those who sought him out and never sought fame. The great Sanskrit scholars flocked to his ashram.

I noticed him because as I began to study Abhinavagupta and Kashmir Shaivism, every book was dedicated to Swami Lakshmanjoo – “without his patient guidance” these texts would never have been translated or understood. Laskhmanjoo was the last source of this Kashmir code Sanskrit. Born in 1907, he passed this world in 1991.

Many video recordings were made of Swami Lakshmanjoo and as I became immersed in his teachings, I at last felt the grace of a real guru. Even though Lakshmanjoo has already cleft the body, he touched me with his grace – and after so many years, I absorbed in my Heart, my very Being, what I had known in my mind. I began to communicate with his people in LA.

And it was by chance that the most trusted disciple of Swami Lakshmanjoo shared the knowledge with me and gave me permission to tell those who will benefit.

    According to Swami Lakshmanjoo:
We are in PRALAYA, the eternally repeating process of the Dissolution of this cycle of time.

The Grand Cross is tightening up to exact on April 23rd and is a markedly powerful force which, if consciously worked with can shift, release and heal incarnational traumas, programmes and patterns. It’ll happen anyway, the skeletons in the closet and shadows becoming more visible and acted out. We know the outcome: it’s up to us and helpers to ensure that the shift to light is as bright and fine as possible and we can always access our soul and source bodies for ultimate protection and presence. We have to bring home down here in order to be at home. There is a level at which the dark stops; it cannot rise further without letting go of all built on repression and this it cannot do. Humanity can rise infinitely beyond that level straight back to source and from there then everything is perfect and the blue print, restored.

  • * Being as simplistic as possible….Id rather that the 4, apparently distinctive 26,000 yr Kali Yuga’s with all of the evil cruelty horror et al, roiling in whatever dimension… as the perpetual/eternal existential state of mankind that insists upon repeating itself over & over & over again…be all returned to source & dispensed with once & for all…as a failed experiment …so consciousness can itself be freed from this demonic burden…freed at last from the miasma of the dank & fetid quagmire that shadows mankind ….fuk the blue guys too…just sayin…either you ‘Get It’ or you don’t.

I have often read your articles Susan, and certainly see the passion you have for these scripts called “Sanskrit” I love people who have a passion for anything in their lives. I do not and have not read anything on the Sanskrits except for articles such as yours. So I learn from reading your well informed articles. I admire the work that people do as you do. That would be where the passion comes in. Let me suggest that this would be your journey and no one else’s.
How do we know that the translation are as you say. What proof do we have. Do we look at the outside world to confirm our interpretation of the writings or are the scripts there to teach us how we should deal with our OWN inner self by viewing the outside world to teach us about our inner self. Emotions for the human being, are reactionary until we become aware of them and then understand we have a choice to choose that reaction/emotion or to let it go. Our emotions are deep seeded within us and when one wakes up to this world then the outside world may then become a problem because we think the outside is what is giving us our emotions. We cannot change the outside world but we can certainly change our inside world and accept the outside just as it is. An Isness if you like. Being awake I believe is being aware of our Self and how we can change our Self so if we continue to hold on to how we see the outside and get annoyed then we do not change. We become the outside world. The changes we speak of are about the person not the world. We must first change ourselves and then the world will change and this is sometimes where people get stuck and don’t see the possibility of a better world and we continue to be emotional around our existing world. Don’t hold your breath as it is a very slow process and one must be extremely patient. So each person is responsible for themSELVES.
Remember you are never wrong, and you have never made a mistake.
So when we blame the outside world for our emotions we do not take responsibility for them and we end up giving the outside world our power. No one creates your emotion. It is an impossibility for you alone have free will to think and feel the way you want. Each of us create our own emotions by viewing anything on the outside world. If someone says something is beautiful and someone else says its ugly then who is right. Both actually because there is nothing right or wrong thinking only makes it so.
If one wanted to check science around emotions then the answer that they would find is that an emotion is a chemical reaction that your brain gives you. It is our addiction to life if you like. We become addicted to our emotions because our emotions keep defining who we are.
Control you emotions, forgive yourself, and above all love yourself into LIFE. When we let the outside world to JUST BE then we begin to remember, just a little, who we really are.
One has nothing to loose by simply always choosing LOVE, PEACE, AND HAPPINESS.

I´ve KNOWN from an early infancy that this current incarnation was to be the time and place where “the pedal would meet the metal”, and all present sinchronicity confirms this early intuitive knowledge to be right!

Infinite thanks to you Susan, for shedding such bright light into this darkness!! My blessings to you… and to all.!

  • Susan,
The cycles have been incorrectly calculated, please refer to the work of Sri Yukteswar and Walter Cruttenden and the film “The Great Year. Also my book “Talking to the Birds”. We have been in the Dwapara cycle since 1781, as you can witness the age of electricity began at this point. The cycles mirror the cycle of the 25000 year great cycle, there is simple evidence that the bottoming out was at about 500 AD, also known as the dark ages. Refer also to the temples in Cambodia(Angkor Prassat Preah Vihear), where the Kali is represented by a time eating pictorial. Regards Arto

    • It is Yukteswar who has “miscalculated” and his confused mischief is simply another part of the Kali Yuga descent.
Astral plane propaganda to keep the masses in control.
      Wake up!

      • I apply Moksha in my work and your reply is not in the same spirit.

After the dissolution of avidya (ignorance),
comes removal of communion with material world,
this is the path to Kaivalyam.

        —Yoga Sutra (Sadhana Pada), 2:24-25

The revelations of our understanding of the current times proves we are not in Kali Yuga. Otherwise your writing would be just another false spin that the Kali age has created.

“There are some ideas so wrong that only a very intelligent person could believe in them.” – George Orwell

“Follow the path of the unsafe, independent thinker. Expose your ideas to the danger of controversy. Speak your mind and fear less the label of ‘crackpot’ than the stigma of conformity.” – Thomas J Watson.

    • Years
      Kaliyuga consists of 432,000
      Dvaparayuga ” 864,000
      Tretayuga ” 1,296,000
      Krtayuga ” 1,728,000

Thus a Mahayuga consisting of these four yugas comprises 4,320,000 yrs 4,320,000
71 such Mahayugas at the close of 1,728,000 years make one Manvantara of 308,448,000
14 such Manvantaras constitute one kalpa of 4,320,000,000
Two Kalpas make a day and night of Brahma of 8,640,000,000
360 such days make one year of Brahma consisting of 3,110,400,000,000
100 such years constitute Brahma’s lifetime of 311,040,000,000,000

      • CrissCross

        Kaliyuga consists of 432,000.
And next you are going to say, only 5000 years of this Kali yuga have gone past (after Krishna left in Dwapar yuga), right? 😉

Do you read the newspapers daily (including most of the International News too)?

Do you really think, after analyzing the current world situation properly (if you can), that this world/humanity will last for another 4,00,000 years???

    • CrissCross

Does the Biblical Shemitah Jubilee Signify the Beginning of the End of the KALI YUGA???

  • The Sanskrit word Kali, which denotes the fourth cycle of time, the Kali Yuga, has no connection with the goddess Kali [kAlI]. These two words are ‘spelled’ meaning written quite differently in the Devanagari and therefore should not be confused. The Kali Yuga refers to the apocalyptic demon Kali implying discord, strife, quarrel, and contention.

      Excellent piece.

What almost turned me off to the article was the first definition of Kali. Kali Loving Mother Goddess is also Demon Crazy Kali destroyer and maker of time and space. So yes it would be definition Kali of time during her subsequent manifestations and reigns. Out of the end of the Kali Yuga is the birth and manifestation of Vishnu.
