Could we be human guinea pigs being fed food that hurts us and causes new disease? Despite intense protests from consumer groups and environmentalists, genetically modified organisms, (GMOs) foods, have been dubbed as the ‘human feeding experiment’ and are continuing to be integrated into the food supply. Most of us do not even know the extent of it, as it is not in mainstream news.
In Kansas, for instance, an experimental 3200 acres of GMO rice have been planted with inserted DNA from human organs. It is believed by the cultivators that this becomes a catalyst for ‘medications’-‘pharmaceuticals’. Some rice is designed to stop intestinal disease, to be used in the third world which will in theory overcome chronic diarrhea. Besides the human health risks, there are also unintended risks of contaminating normal rice fields. Rice is not the only food experiment going on.
GMO’s were approved in the US without undergoing long term tests to determine if they were safe for human consumption. The rats that were fed GMO food didn’t do too well; they either died, or lived with horrible distended intestines and misery. Yet, due to the lack of required labeling, Americans do not know if they are consuming GMO foods in a meal. Regardless of public outcry, the labeling of GMO’s is not required.
Engineered foods become GMO food. For example, some seeds are injected with human genes-DNA, and hence, they are not natural. It is not known what mutations might occur as a result. A subset of GMO foods are called Transgenic foods. Some researchers are suggesting that the rise in autism is due toTransgenic foods.
The American Academy of Environmental Medicine (AAEM) has advised doctors to tell their patients to avoid GMOs. The introduction of GMOs into the food chain has now been correlated with an alarming rise in chronic diseases and food allergies. A growing body of evidence has shown GMOs may cause mysterious allergies, immune reactions, liver problems, sterility, and an alarming rise in severe chronic disease. New diseases of unknown causes are sprouting up all over the world. Why? Could it be GMO foods that have been ‘sneaked’ into our food, sauces, and/or drinks?
To date, a list of 10 food products have been identified to be genetically modified. They are as follows: Corn, Soy, Cotton, Papaya, tomatoes, rice, rapeseed, peas, potatoes, and dairy products. Some of these foods are called by different names. For example, rapeseed, an industrial heating oil, was never meant for human consumption. It was later called canola oil, and marketed as being a ‘healthy’ oil to consume. What are your french fries, fried in?
The debate continues regarding the safety of GMOs. People are eating what is cleverly marketed, easy to obtain, and that which tastes good. But, just look around. Obesity, increasing allergies, weird illness, fatigue, rashes, gastrointestinal problems, and more dis-ease, are plaguing people. What is inside the box that looks so promising when we shop?
It is known that better health can be accomplished through conscious awareness of what goes into the body. Avoiding GMO, buying organic foods, growing your own food, might make the difference between feeling ‘so so’, and feeling good. Reduce your inflammation, by learning about today’s foods, and increase your well being.
