Intravenous Vitamin C is Proving to Be a Viable Treatment for Covid-19

Among the many possible treatments being tested with Covid-19 patients, intravenous Vitamin C (IVC) is being used successfully, according to a handful of experts. On March 26th, Dr. Richard Z. Cheng, MD, PhD, from Shanghai, China, wrote an article for ScienceDirect detailing his firsthand experience treating coronavirus patients with intravenous Vitamin C.

“High-dose intravenous VC has also been successfully used in the treatment of 50 moderate to severe COVID-19 patients in China,” Cheng says. “The oxygenation index was improving in real time and all the patients eventually cured and were discharged. In fact, high-dose VC has been clinically used for several decades and a recent NIH expert panel document states clearly that this regimen (1.5 g/kg body weight) is safe and without major adverse events.” – Dr. Richard Z. Cheng

  • Dr. Cheng’s insight on this is quite notable, not only for the fact that he has been working directly with these patients, but also for his credentials as a medical doctor, who served in the United States army as a physician and as Chief Medical Director of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine.

Even prior to his article, Cheng has been updating us about the efficacy of IVC in treating Covid-19. You can read about this on the U.S. Library of Medicine website. He also reports from his YouTube channel where he had this to say:

“It was brought to my attention that one of my friends who posted the Shanghai official recommendation of IV Vitamin C to be used in the Covid-19 infection, and my friend showed me the screenshot, that a Facebook ‘fact check’ function says that ‘no, the Shanghai government did not officially recommend high dose IVC in their Covid-19 treatment.’ Well, I’d like to say it is a fact that [the] Shanghai government officially recommended high dose IVC in the treatment.” – Dr. Richard Z. Cheng

    He continues:

“Let me make it clear that not only Shanghai, but also Guangzhou, Guangdong Province, another major city in China, publicly endorsed high-dose IVC for the treatment of Covid-19. Those who does Fact Check, please be more careful.” – Dr. Richard Z. Cheng

You may have also noticed that the New York Post wrote an article recently about how the state’s hospitals have begun using IVC to treat Covid-19 patients.

“The patients who received vitamin C did significantly better than those who did not get vitamin C,” they write, quoting Dr. Andrew G. Weber. “It helps a tremendous amount, but it is not highlighted because it’s not a sexy drug.” [Source]

Covid-19 is being treated with Intravenous high dose Vitamin C, meaning the treatment is injected straight into the blood system through an IV. This is a different way of accessing it than through oral supplementation, and while the search for effective treatments for Covid-19 gains steam, we’re likely to see more hospitals employ Vitamin C.
