Activist and poet John Trudell talks about the benefits of hemp as foundation for a new economy. This amazing plant can produce energy, food, shelter, oxygen, and much more, and until 1885 hemp was the largest growing crop on this planet. Then came the petro-chemical revolution. With over 25,000 beneficial uses, it is amazing that it is illegal to grow this non-intoxicating plant that grows easily, abundantly and almost anywhere.
A thought experiment. Imagine that the euro would collapse. Greece, Spain, Italy and Spain follow suit. And eventually the Netherlands. Banks collapse and cash withdrawal will be impossible. A disaster? Most likely. But still; it would give us an opportunity to discover that it wouldn’t be the end of the world. Could the world survive without money? That thought fascinates three young professionals. They believe it would. Recently they gave up their jobs and security to use their strengths for the creation of a gift economy.
We are not, as the old guard preaches, feeble and passive observers of a fixed, objective order or cogs in a giant, lifeless machine. Nor are we, as the new guard intones, the all-powerful masters of our own destiny, capable of instantly conjuring anything we want out of pixie dust and wishful thinking. We are co-creative participants in a great cosmic adventure, the outcome of which must always remain unknown.
Frustrated by antiquated legislation, Reynolds lobbies for the right to create a sustainable living test site. While politicians hum and ha, Mother Nature strikes, leaving communities devastated by tsunamis and hurricanes. Reynolds and his crew seize the opportunity to lend their pioneering skills to those who need it most. Shot over three years and in four countries, Garbage Warrior is a timely portrait of a determined visionary, a hero of the 21st century.
Below are excerpts from a military study on the effects of Hatha Yoga on soldiers stationed in Iraq. As one may guess, the soldiers who received instruction in Yoga showed significant improvement in their emotional and physiological well-being, leading to the conclusion that Yoga is indeed a useful tool in dealing with combat and environmental stress.

All of the things we complain about that are happening “out there” are out of our control until we can control what’s happening inside us. That starts with controlling our feelings and reactions to outside events. Thus, the only power we have to change these events is by changing ourselves. As such, we each possess immense power.
After nearly 18 years of legal battles, the communities in Ecuador’s Amazon rainforest devastated by oil giant Chevron’s reckless pump-and-dump oil operations have scored a landmark victory. Chevron has been ordered to pay $9.5 billion for cleanup of widespread contamination, and potable water and healthcare facilities for affected communities.
The Dutch justice ministry has announced it will close eight prisons and cut 1,200 jobs in the prison system. A decline in crime has left many cells empty.
The underhanded effort to fundamentally alter the internet under the guise of protecting the copyrights of Hollywood and its transnational “entertainment” corporations was delivered a distinct set-back a few days ago when Congress retreated on its full-steam ahead effort to ram SOPA down our throats.
We are encouraging supporters of farmers’ rights to grow food without fear and intimidation to assemble outside the courtroom in a peaceful manner to support the farmers in their claims, recognizing that these injustices affect us all and that this case is deserving of the court’s time and attention.
Exercising our rights to free speech and freedom of assembly in the face of tremendous political and financial injustices can be a life changing experience. By going to a rally in support of a cause that we feel passionate about can introduce us to new people, ideas and motivations for living your life in accordance with our own values. Revolting can be extremely liberating and help us to become the people we probably should be.
Ill Doctrine brings us 10 of his favorite quotes from Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., reminding us that there is so much more to this fallen hero than his passion for civil rights. Love and power.
My most immediate hope for this ailing world is that humanity can come together to stop the war machines in their endless march toward global self-destruction. And so it is, Iran is not our enemy. Iran is not our enemy. The enemy is within.
It is safe to say that America has not mended its ways, and has only traveled further down the dark path King warned us of back in 1967. The man “leading” us, or at least the front-man for the corporate-financier interests that drive America’s destiny, may honor King with carefully contrived words and well-orchestrated ceremony, but in deeds and actions Obama and the corporate-financier elite that hold his leash, defame and dishonor King in every way imaginable.
As conscious agents of evolution, we can redesign post-industrial society on ecological principles to make a world that works for all. Rather than breakdown and barbarism, 2012 heralds the birth of a regenerative planetary culture where collaboration replaces competition, where exploration of psyche and spirit becomes the new cutting edge, replacing the sterile materialism that has pushed our world to the brink.
David highlights the importance of Rome and London to the global conspiracy and their Satanic ritual connection when he visited Rome on the recent Beltane weekend in which the Royal Wedding in London on April 29th was followed two days later by a major ritual in St Peter’s Square related to Pope John Paul II on the key Beltane date of May 1st.
A coincidence? Not a chance.
Love is a verb, it’s the creative life force of the universe unfurling in real time, it’s the breaking wave of transformation, it’s life itself, propelled by the evolutionary energy that burst forth some fourteen billion years ago that is always and ever yearning for greater and greater depth, complexity and creativity, an infinite journey into the vastness of consciousness unfolding in real time.
American jurisprudence is a morass of moralizing and prudery taken from 17th century England–all cobbled together with special dispensations for deep-pocketed industries. When religion and consciousness-altering psychedelics enter into the mix, our legal system twists into incoherence.
Bitcoin is revolutionary and a badly needed bit of fresh air. Its peer-to-peer design, independent of banks and government, is a model for all to applaud. Yes, we should press for reform at the government level, but no, we should not wait for them to come around. There is a free market for currencies and it is ours for the taking.
