4 Reasons Why Juicing Helps With Weight-Loss

Would you like to lose some weight in a healthy and delicious manner?

I work with a large variety of clients, and one of the most common concerns is weight-loss. It’s no wonder considering the fast-paced world we live in, full of fast-food, convenient meals, and drive-through everything! We really need to remember that a healthy lifestyle is more than a quick-fix diet. A healthy lifestyle that promotes weight-loss and helps you maintain a healthy weight is a combination of factors such as a healthy, well-balanced diet, daily exercise, clean water, supportive relationships, and a positive mental attitude.

In addition to the above mentioned, what has really helped my clients lose weight has been to replace one meal a day with freshly prepared fruit and vegetable juices. Typically this meal is breakfast. One continues to eat their ‘normal’ but healthy lunch and dinner and the weight starts to melt off!

Here are the reasons why it works:

1. Reduced Caloric Intake

Part of the equation of losing weight is calories in versus calories out. If you are used to consuming a certain type of meal and then replace it with a lower calorie meal (in this scenario your freshly-prepared juice), you are going to have a caloric deficit of what you normally take in. Once you replace one meal a day with your vegetable juice, you’re easily on the track to lose 1/2 to 1 pound a week depending on your exercise level.

  • 2. High Vitamin and Mineral Content

Freshly-prepared juices have a high vitamin and mineral content. When the body craves the minerals it needs in order to operate, we experience just that…cravings. Many times we aren’t sure what we are craving and so we just eat. If the minerals are not supplied to the body, we continue to crave what we are missing and eat more. Over time, this leads to weight-gain and malnutrition. Once you start supplying the body with the nutrition it is craving, the cravings go away.

    3. Detoxifying

There are certain toxins that the body holds onto in its fat cells. If you’ve been exposed to any type of toxic chemicals in the past (such as pesticides, perfumes, food additives, etc.), your body may not have had the capability to remove these toxins. Therefore, to protect your body from the harmful effects of toxins, it stores them away in fat cells until the time comes that your body feels safe enough to ‘let them go.’ By adding fruit and vegetable juices to your diet, you are assisting your body in a natural detoxification process. As the toxins are removed from the body, your body no longer has a need to hold onto the fat cells that were buffering you from harm. This leads to more weight-loss. Yea!

    4. Replacing Unhealthy Calories with Healthy Calories

If you are one that tends to snack in the afternoon, why not replace that snack with a fruit or vegetable juice? All the reasons stated above show you why juicing works! The high vitamin and mineral content of the juice will fulfill you and actually even end up reducing sugary cravings in the future!

As you can see, juicing really is beneficial for us all and can be quite helpful as part of a weight-loss program. Start your day off right! Quit making excuses and start making juice!!
