Strike While the Iron is Hot

This age old expression is so very true. When trying to forge change in any way, it’s all important to begin to do it when the inspiration comes, not later. Whether talking, writing or taking physical action, the time to act is right when the impulse comes, even if it’s a task that can’t be fully completed at the time. Initiating what the conscious impulse is indicating, to whatever degree, is the key to making manifest whatever Universe is telling us.

This is another reason we must be free from entanglements in order to live a fully response-able conscious life and be the instruments we are each meant to be. If we are not free to take the initiative we’re living in a reactive state to everything around us. And it is very often overwhelming, especially in times like these when it seems that all hell is breaking loose.

Living on the offensive and taking the initiative gives freedom of choice and freedom of movement. It’s not just with major issues or something we do periodically; it’s a way of life. From various mundane tasks to contacting someone with a vital piece of information or a message of love and encouragement that was laid on our hearts, the time to act is right then. If the inspiration cools and we don’t respond, we often forget and thereby neglect that golden opportunity.

The iron cools and the opportunity has passed. Yet if we strike while the iron is hot we succeed in helping to mold a better life for someone, and a better world for everyone.

  • Steering is Easy Once the Boat is in Motion

We don’t always have to know where we’re going in order to get started. If you know you’re supposed to move, for example, just start preparing to move. You’ll be amazed at how things fall into place. You can’t steer a boat if it’s standing still. It has to be in motion for the rudder to work. So what if you push out the “wrong way” at first. No worries, a little flick of the rudder and your entire direction has changed.

Of course the bigger the boat, as in the more “baggage” perhaps, the longer it takes to “come around” or turn. Huge ocean liners and freighters take miles to make a turnabout. But even then, turning is a very simple act, moving only a very small part.

It’s called the trimtab. Buckminster Fuller was so taken by this amazing phenomenon that he had it inscribed on his tombstone. In his words:

“Something hit me very hard once, thinking about what one little man could do. Think of the Queen Mary — the whole ship goes by and then comes the rudder. And there’s a tiny thing at the edge of the rudder called a trim tab. It’s a miniature rudder. Just moving the little trim tab builds a low pressure that pulls the rudder around. Takes almost no effort at all. So I said that the little individual can be a trim tab. Society thinks it’s going right by you, that it’s left you altogether. But if you’re doing dynamic things mentally, the fact is that you can just put your foot out like that and the whole big ship of state is going to go. So I said, call me Trim Tab.”

This to me is one of the most profound metaphors for the power of the individual. We each, one decision at a time, one act, one expression of love, affect the direction of not only our own lives, but every life on this planet and as I’ve said before, change the entire morphic field of which we are all part.

    It’s all at our fingertips.

    Some Prompts Just Won’t Quit

While we can miss opportunities and fail to respond to certain conscious impulses, some things just don’t go away. When things like that happen and the same prompt just keeps coming around, then it’s something important and must be listened to and acted upon. I experienced this recently when I was considering approaching some people with an idea but was reluctant for different reasons. I laid the prompts aside and went about my way, but sure enough, they kept coming around like the first time, just popping into my mind with the same sense of “suggestion” they had the first times.

I finally set about doing what I felt in my heart and sure enough, each exchange was amazing with results that just blew me away.

It’s similar to that feeling we get when we finally tackle something we’ve been putting off but we know needs to get done. The interesting thing to me is the way these certain prompts “feel”. It’s like learning a new language and finally getting some of the basics down to where you can recognize words and phrases enough to get by, a huge boost in your confidence which in turn inspires us to keep going and keep learning.

    Tell Someone You Love Them

We all blow it and miss opportunities. I think the most important ones are telling someone we love them and how much we appreciate them. This is actually what inspired this post. I was on the porch looking at the night sky and thinking about someone whom I so admire, love and respect and knew I needed to communicate that and what about this unique person made me feel that way, which thankfully I did. I don’t know if there was an auspicious moment involved in their life at the time, maybe I’ll find out, but I knew it had to be said and right then.

It brought me to tears as it poured out.

Every time I’ve done this, as I’m sure many of you have experienced, it has brought about a very emotional connectivity in some way, even if I never hear anything back. It may just be a quick note of thanks and appreciation or a longer “gush”, but it’s a magical event and something wonderful happens. And it gets easier and more frequent the more we do it.

Responding to these prompts also engenders a grateful heart as we yield to and become who we are meant to be. Our connectivity with the Universe and each other expands – synchronicities abound, and more love and inspiration erupts in our hearts.

Talk about free energy! And all it takes is throwing the switch.

Keep on loving and responding to the call – don’t let this nasty phase the world is going through get in the way!

    Much love always, Zen
