Help Yourself

In my short experience on this big blue marble there is one-act that I have continually come to find gratifying. The best way to help yourself is by helping others. Since the way we see the world is a reflection of how we see ourselves, lending a helping hand can be the ultimate self-help tool. Whether it be a constant base of support or a simple act of kindness. The means of selflessness is an all-encompassing approach. Aboriginal cultures of our world have passed down oral traditions which were harmonious with their environment. They were well aware that by helping the weakest members of the tribe they all became collectively stronger as a community. Like the old adage goes, you are only as strong as your weakest link. This is how genuine people in forgotten times perceived one another;

“When someone was so poor that he couldn’t afford a horse, a tent or a blanket, he would, in that case, receive it all as a gift.” – John (Fire) Lame Deer, Sioux Lakota

How uncivilized of these barbaric people right? In a world where we need to have the most attractive and up-to-date possession, it might seem so. It has become common place to determine the value of a human being by his wealth. Better work harder to fragment yourself from your coworkers and keep up with the Jones’s. It feels like a never-ending repeat of backwards day. Where left is right, up is down, and everyone is listening to criss-cross.

  • To say that we have strayed from a nice little get-up where everyone gets along and helps out is an understatement. The lobbyist bought and payed for politicians are now trying to make feeding the homeless illegal. They churn out unending wars for resources and spaces on the geo-political chess board, why not have a war on poverty and hunger? More bizarre laws are popping up such as one in New Zealand that strips individuals of their right to grow food, save seeds, and even share food with their community. Am I missing something here? Or how about the vast crack down on raw foods, vitamins and minerals. The cattle herders at the top of this social-engineering machine know that a cohesive, non-compliant community is their biggest threat. That’s why all of these life-denying and illogical laws are being implemented. There is no room for cooperation at the highest levels, it is all about divide and conquer.

    So what one might do to offset the current paradigm? You might be quick to consider donating to foundations and charities like your local red cross or consolation ribbon cancer fund is a commendable option. However, this is just another dead-end road and a lost cause. Owned and operated by the same charlatans that control the pharmaceutical companies that make billions of dollars a year creating new untested drugs that alter everyone’s brain chemistry. Yet another for-profit industry of the machine, most health organizations aim to keep people sick while raking in the cash at the same time. Looking for the cure and not the root cause of the problem is pointless in any situation. Natural health (eastern medicine) has been around much longer and is much more effective due to its understanding that the body is and energy field with focal points of pressure. Negative energy like stress is the most prevalent cause of disease.

    I am speaking of community based help networks. Here are some great examples; After constant neglect and delayments by the government, private citizens on Hawaii’s Kauai island performed a $4 million road repair themselves – free of charge. Just as a population might feel helplessly dependent on their government for support and direction, more organic options arise. An even better example, a nonprofit organization in Milwaukee, WI named Growing Power has taken its food supply into its own hands by growing healthy natural raw foods for its local community while offering a positive outlet for troubled youths. These are just some instances of a great number of people who genuinely care the well-being of others. Starting at a community level is very important, the reason being that only the local members of an area truly know what is needed and how to accomplish it without permission and interference from an outside source.

    When you realize that no one gets to choose the body they are born into, the walls of reluctance disintegrate and everyone’s view becomes equally valid. Accept them for who they are without prejudices derived from your own perspective and it becomes easy to treat everyone as if they are an extension of yourself. One of the best pieces of advice that I was ever given was from a friend who suggested, after dealing with a person I could not get along with, that the best way to deal with a perceived enemy is to kill them with kindness. It is almost impossible for any human being to stay mad at someone who is continually nice to them. Now this is not to say that we should all hold hands and sing kumbaya around a campfire. A clear indignation can be dealt with by means of a strong mental aptitude which is a more effective response than by dealing with it by brute force and anger. Be aware of your surroundings, the good with the bad, and make an effort to turn negative scenarios into positive conclusions.

    The ideals that have illuminated my way, and time after time have given me new courage to face life cheerfully, have been Kindness, Beauty, and Truth. I depend on the Kindness of others as much as I try to broadcast that same vibration. When you step back and witness the natural empathetic impulses of people, Beauty can be experienced and shared by all. Lastly, through the development of the first two ideals mentioned, Truth comes into motion, this is the truth that we are all part of the same divine unity. A universe of consciousness experiencing itself through its individual parts, just like the trillions of cooperating cells that make up your body. Appreciate everything and everyone for what they are. We are all a peace of the puzzle.

    Try it you might like it. Happy Trails.
