Contacting the Dead: Does it Help or Hinder the Grieving Process?

Waking Times

Losing a loved one can be an emotionally challenging time of your life. The shock of processing thoughts that you won’t see or hug your loved one ever again can be difficult. You may feel sadness, guilt, anger, loneliness, and emptiness. You may feel consumed with a need to contact your loves one once more, to be comforted by the knowledge that he or she is somehow still around you, and to feel connected again.

We all deal with grief in different ways. Yet, typically, the grieving process is made up of five stages: denial, anger, bargaining, depression and, finally, acceptance. It’s an undoubtedly hard journey. Reaching the final stage of acceptance allows you to move on with life and return to normality.

  • The Spirit World

For some, the idea of losing a loved one is unbearable. Thus, searching for a solution and a way to ease the pain may open the door to a new world – the spirit world. There are many anecdotal stories of people communicating with those who have passed. Whilst some believe this idea is mostly made of fabricated and false claims, we can’t deny the possibility. What if we do pass over into a spirit world? What if spirits are all around us? What if spirits are trying to contact us?

The questions are endless, making life-after-death one of the biggest mysteries for humankind. We all have our own beliefs, but no definitive answers, which often leads to a road of discovery and exploration.

Psychic Connection to Ones Who Have Passed

In order to ease the grieving process, some people will look to the help of psychic mediums to contact their loved ones who have passed. This is a controversial subject, mostly because there are people out there who prey on vulnerable individuals just to make a buck.

That being said, there are also talented mediums who have brought joy to people looking for answers. Usually, these are people looking for a chance to reunite with a loved one and wanting to heal. The question is, though, is this a good idea? Would it really help you heal?

Contacting the dead is a subject of much debate. If it’s possible, does it mean we should attempt to make a connection? This decision is largely down to the individual who’s grieving. Yet, whereas some can deal with the grieving process well, others simply cannot. For this latter group, contacting passed loved ones can push them into a downward spiral. Consequently, it may leave them in stage four of the grieving process – depression – unable to truly accept what has happened.

    Acceptance before psychic intervention

It may be more reasonable to delay working with a psychic medium until you have fully healed, and, thus, accept the passing of your friend, partner or family member. Once you’re truly out of the grieving process, it may be easier for the mind to absorb what a medium may offer.

Visiting a medium can have a number of outcomes. For example, you may find yourself more upset from a weak and inaccurate reading. Or, you’ll have a session where your loved one didn’t come through to connect. This can be particularly upsetting, especially at a time when you’re emotional and desperately in need of comfort.

It’s smart to heal and accept the circumstances before you consider attempting contact. Also, ensure that you’re mentally strong enough to cope with all potential outcomes. If you’re struggling to cope with the recent loss of a loved one, reach out to experts such as Beyond who can help with everything from finding a funeral director to applying for funeral finance. Most importantly, don’t be afraid to reach out for assistance during this emotionally traumatic time, as even strangers will step up so you don’t feel alone.
