Deepak Chopra on Higher Health (Part 2)

In short, holistic health has become inevitable. A piecemeal approach to wellness doesn’t fit how your body works. It is no longer “alternative” medicine that concerns itself with broad issues of holistic wellness. The need is universal, and the sooner we begin to lay down practical guidelines for living holistically, the closer we will come to higher health. In the next post I’ll cover some proposed guidelines.

The Era of Entanglement: Humanity Is ‘Back to the Jungle’ (Video)

Danny Hillis, co-chairman of the technology and design firm Applied Minds, characterizes the present day as a “post-Enlightenment” point in time in which people no longer understand the technology that surrounds them. Branding it “the Entanglement Era,” Hillis compares humanity’s current relationship to the technological environment to its relationship to the natural environment, such as a jungle.

The Higher Health: A New Map for Prevention

Yet in a different way the human genome has opened the door for the higher health. We now realize that our genes are far more flexible, changeable, and easily influenced by lifestyle choices. This post is too short for me to detail how such a revolutionary change occurred in genetic thinking, so I will only point to the findings of Dr. Dean Ornish, the country’s most respected advocate for heart prevention, which indicate that improving your diet, exercise, and stress levels leads to improved genetic output from 400 to 500 genes.

The Energetic Facts of Life

There’s a war going on now and hardly anyone knows it. Most people don’t even know they’re on the battlefield until they lose a limb, or a head. It’s a war between gravity and levity. Those who can keep themselves light, who keep from buckling under the pressure as the darkness and heaviness of the world increases, will find themselves airborne when the shift occurs.

Mindful Eating as Food for Thought

Today’s experiment in eating, however, involves becoming aware of that reflexive urge to plow through your meal like Cookie Monster on a shortbread bender. Resist it. Leave the fork on the table. Chew slowly. Stop talking. Tune in to the texture of the pasta, the flavor of the cheese, the bright color of the sauce in the bowl, the aroma of the rising steam.

How Giving Improves Your Health and Heals a Wounded World

Consciousness research, which has been studying the science of giving for decades, has taught us that giving and receiving are among the most healing expressions that humans can make. They can help heal the separateness we often feel from ourselves, each other, the environment, and the sacred.

The Butterfly Effect and Individual Action

Both the Butterfly Effect and the Tipping Point models call into question the very nature of control. We are continuously bombarded by bureaucracy and larger systems that serve as the “managers” of our daily lives and our society, but this appears to be a false construct. It seems that the chaotic nature of interaction based upon free will suggests that the individual is the seat of true power and change.

Taoism 101

Always without desire we must be found,
If its deep mystery we would sound;
But if desire always within us be,
Its outer fringe is all that we shall see.

Human Nature: A Self-fulfilling Prophecy?

Did the brutal Crusades of the Middle Ages occur as a result of human nature? Was this a natural occurrence that could not have been prevented? Or were the Crusades simply an example of a time when people in power took it upon themselves to convince other people to kill each other. Sure it makes us feel a lot better to say that these kinds of things are unavoidable and will always be a part of our culture, but that won’t help to prevent similar atrocities from happening in the future.

Ancient Mysteries – Turbowolf and Graham Hancock (Video)

In the first of a series of four episodes, Turbowolf interview Graham Hancock at The Roman Baths in Bath. Graham Hancock is one of the foremost authorities on Ancient Mysteries, having written numerous bestselling non-fiction books on the subject such as ‘Fingerprints Of The Gods’, ‘The Sign & The Seal’, ‘Heavens Mirror’ and ‘Supernatural’ and, recently, the fantasy adventure novel Entangled.

Meditation is Not a Substitute for Life

When we meditate, we train ourselves to wake up from our dream state again and again. By learning how to meditate, we are practicing how to watch our mind without flinching or running away so as to gain a better understanding of the stories that make us feel and act the way we do. Knowing the stories that power our automatic behaviors and deepest feelings will allow us to release these misconceptions from our inner system. And finally, without the layers of stories filtering us from reality, we uncover our true self and gain true freedom.

Message from Leonard Peltier on the 36th Anniversary of Incarceration

We Indians said it for generations: If they can kill us indiscriminately, they will do it to anyone. If they can take our land, they will do it to anyone. If they can kidnap our children and take them to prison schools, they will do it to anyone. If they can starve us and lie to us, they will do it to anyone. If they can wrongfully imprison us, they will do it to anyone. Now, sadly, this is another Indian prophecy fulfilled. “We will do as we please.”

9 Ways to Achieve Personal Peace and Freedom

There are a lot of different ways to get involved in influencing peace and freedom. You don’t have to be a philosopher if that’s not your thing; you don’t have to make signs and march if you don’t want to; and you don’t have to get involved with podcasting or video editing if you don’t have the ability to. You can make great contributions to freedom movement simply by doing what you love and sharing your unique gift with the world. Maybe you are an artist, musician, comedian, or you have some kind of public platform that will allow you to bring these ideas to a lot of people.

How it Feels to Have a Stroke (Video)

Neuroanatomist Jill Bolte Taylor had an opportunity few brain scientists would wish for: One morning, she realized she was having a massive stroke. As it happened — as she felt her brain functions slip away one by one, speech, movement, understanding — she studied and remembered every moment. This is a powerful story about how our brains define us and connect us to the world and to one another.

David Wilcock: The Source Field Investigations (Video)

David Wilcock reveals the stunning scientific proof that DNA and biological life emerge directly out of the Source Field… a universal matrix of energy creating all space, time, matter, energy, biological life and consciousness — and we are indeed about to experience the Greatest Moment of All Time. Learn about the pineal gland, Illuminati, government conspiracy, UFOs, DMT, the Mayan Calendar and more!

Timely Wisdom From the Late Robert Anton Wilson (Video)

It’s very obvious that quantum physics, parapsychology and all the work they’re doing attaching brain scanners to Yogis and Zen masters means we’re going to learn a great deal about the non-local quantum circuit. I think the history of mysticism has been sort of like a bunch of firecrackers with two or three going off every century. With the LSD revolution it became two or three every month and now it’s moving up to two or three every week. I see a real acceleration in consciousness, just like in technology.

Plato’s Allegory of the Cave (Video)

Plato lets Socrates describe a group of people who have lived chained to the wall of a cave all of their lives, facing a blank wall. The people watch shadows projected on the wall by things passing in front of a fire behind them, and begin to ascribe forms to these shadows. According to Plato’s Socrates, the shadows are as close as the prisoners get to viewing reality. He then explains how the philosopher is like a prisoner who is freed from the cave and comes to understand that the shadows on the wall do not make up reality at all, as he can perceive the true form of reality rather than the mere shadows seen by the prisoners.

“Disconnected” for 90 Days -– Young Man Finds Real Connection

Reilly noticed most people’s real love affair, their only quality time, was poured over gadgets and profiles. When he and his roommates had some out-of-town friends over for football, every single one of them was on a laptop or texting, with no one talking. “…this was what we were all looking forward to and we’re just sitting here numbing our minds,” he said.

No, thanks!
